  • A Warm Welcome is Extended to our New Graduate Students in Epidemiology
  • Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is an extremely long macromolecule that is the main component of chromosomes and the material that transfers genetic characteristics within all life forms. DNA is proving to be extremely important in determining our pre-dispositions to health or disease. DNA is encoded in a sequence of the bases that are transcribed as strands unwind and replicate. It is this transcription of DNA and its mutations that have been found to be both protective of normal cells or destructive as cells can go awry resulting in a cancerous condition.
